 New TLDs
 ICANN extends the gTLD namespace
Several hundreds of new generic top-level domains are expected to be live as early as 2013. ICANN has received more than 2,000 applications during the application window in early 2012, among those new extensions such as .berlin, .shop, .deloitte or .hiv.

ICANN
As an ICANN-accredited registrar and part of the Tucows group, EPAG will make a large number of new top-level domains available to our reseller channel.
ICANN will most likely phase the delegation of new top-level domains in batches of 500 each. We expect to see the first new extensions go live in early 2013, although the introduction process might take several years to complete until all applied-for extensions have entered the root-zone.

So far, only 21 generic TLDs exist. The market opening establishes the basis for more competition and innovation in the global Internet market.
EPAG has been in the domain name industry since 2000 and was actively involved in the launches of many gTLDs since then. An extensive network of personal contacts in the industry and regular participation at ICANN and other industry events provides us with profound insight and up-to-date information on the global namespace evolution.
